What is the Surefuser+?
Surefuser+ is a single use elastomeric pump for continuous infusion therapy within the hospital or home environment. Simple, ergonomic design makes the Surefuser+ easy to fill, easy to connect, and even easier for you as a patient to manage.
Simply fill Surefuser+ with a standard 50ml Luer Lock syringe, attach the Surefuser+ to IV access and open the clamp. Surefuser+ is available empty, or pre-filled via our pharmacy compounding partners to suit your patient’s specific needs/prescription.
With abundant supporting data and clinical stability studies, a clinician and patient can use Surefuser+ with confidence.

NO FLOW
Is air trap found at the filter?
• Tap the filter and flow controller with your finger to remove air bubbles.
Is Infusion line kinked?
• Unkink/straighten infusion line.
Is the Robert clamp closed?
• Open clamp.
• Bypass tubing through the clamp and close it (this ensures the clamp cannot be accidentally closed, cutting off the infusion).
Subcutaneous cannula insertion site is non-operational
• Flush cannula.
• Re-site if blocked or use secondary subcutaneous cannula site.
Is there discoloured / foggy / crystallised medicine in Surefuser+ balloon reservoir or infusion line?
• Discontinue use of the device and discard it.
• Review medicines with prescriber.
SLOW FLOW
Although scheduled end time has past, there is considerable residual drug left in Surefuser +
Ambient temperature is cold
• Consider warming the room.
• Place a blanket on the person.
• Consider positioning the flow controller to a warmer part of the body, e.g. abdomen.
Is the flow regulator in contact with patient's skin?
• If no, attach the flow regulator on the patient's skin.
Is person’s skin cool to the touch or they have peripherally shut down?
• Place a blanket on the person.
• Ensure the flow regulator is in direct contact with the person’s skin.
• Consider positioning the flow controller to a warmer part of the body, e.g. abdomen.
Is the drug high viscosity?
• If yes, consult with the practitioner or supplier.
• If no, use with arterial injection.
Is Surefuser+ casing positioned lower than the subcutaneous cannula insertion site?
• Reposition the Surefuser+ casing to roughly the same level as the person’s subcutaneous cannula insertion site.
Is discoloured / foggy / crystallised medicine in Surefuser+ balloon reservoir or infusion line?
• Discontinue use of the device and discard it.
• Review medicines with the prescriber.
FAST FLOW
Drug solution has disappeared before scheduled time.
Did patient use an electric blanket?
• Stop using electric blanket.
Is patient skin temperature considerably higher than 32 degree or having a fever?
• Remove blankets or clothing.
• Use a damp sponge on the person.
• Move the flow controller to a cooler part of the body, e.g. arm.
Is Surefuser+ casing positioned higher than the subcutaneous cannula insertion site?
Reposition Surefuser+ casing to roughly the same level as the subcutaneous cannula insertion site.
Is ambient temperature hot?
• Cool the room with an air conditioner or fan.
• Ensure Surefuser+ remains on top of the bedding.
LEAKAGE
Check and record the leakage point, the condition after filling medicinal solution (Temp & Period), and when leakage is found.
Infusion progression
The family or carers should note the movement of the blue infusion line as advised by the nurse (during the day) on the monitoring label.
• For volumes of 50 ml and 100 ml, each interval of 1 corresponds approximately to 10 ml.
• For volumes of 150 ml and 250 ml, each interval of 1 corresponds approximately to 50 ml.
• For the largest pump of 300 ml, each interval of 1 corresponds approximately to 100 ml.

What should I do if the medication does not appear to be reducing over time?
Make sure that the Clamp is open and that the Infusion Line or the connected catheter don’t have any bends and twists as these can cause fluctuations in the infusion rate. Also check the Filter for bubbles which you can remove by simply tapping it gently. If you cannot identify any obvious issues then please contact your nurse or Consultant at the Hospital as soon as possible.
Do I need to clean my Surefuser+?
Your Clinic will advise you how to keep your Surefuser+ clean. For further advice on cleaning please contact your nurse. WARNING: You should avoid using any substances to clean your Surefuser+ which may contain chemicals/alcohol that could damage the Casing or Infusion Line.
Can Surefuser +be worn in an MRI scanner?
Surefuser+ does not contain any metal parts and may therefore be worn safely while undergoing an MRI. Consult your HCP to ensure that your infusion port and/or catheter is suitable for an MRI.
Does it matter if I get my Surefuser+ hot or cold?
Your Surefuser+ needs to be kept at room temperature at all times and so please avoid exposure to sunlight and extreme cold.
Is the device reusable?
No – it should only ever be used once and then be disposed of.
Can I wash my Surefuser+ carrying case?
Yes – this small bag provided is a reusable accessory and can be hand washed in a light soapy solution. Please ensure it is dry before re-use

Dual filter
Do not clean or disinfect the filter with soap, detergent, or alcohol. Note that perfume contains alcohol, so avoid spraying perfume near the filter.
